Cut 500 grams gammon steaks into large pieces, season with salt and pepper. Bake the gammon steaks brown in hot butter. Scoop it from the pan. Bake in the remaining butter 1 chopped onion with 2 finely chopped garlic cloves and 1 thinly sliced carrot. Fry until the onion is soft. Put the meat back in the pan and add 200 ml fond.
