Flemish Stew
Bake in hot butter 750 grams diced braised beef to brown. Add 2 sliced onions. Bake this shorty. Pour in a botttle of a dark Belgian beer, I used for Leffe. Stir in 2 tablespoons mustard and 250 grams brown sugar candy. Stir until the sugar candy is completely dissolved. Bring on taste with salt and pepper. Lower the heat and let it simmer for a few hours, at least 2 hours! Delicious with a salad and fries! Enjoy!

    Hi.
Is this recipe really correct? The picture looked nice, so I tried it. It was awfully sweet!
Could it be it should only be 25 or 50 grams of sugar instead of 250?
Still it was eatable. I added balsamico vinegar to make it sweet-and-sour.

It shoud be correct. I followed a recipe in a Flemisch culinary magazine which indicated 250 grams sugar. We also had it very sweet. I didn’t know that balsamic vinegar coud help make it sweet and sour. We just had to eat it :( . But I think 50 grams of sugar is much better. Thanks for replying!
